Peaceful Witness Events

In response to recent killings of African-Americans, and the resulting outcry against racism in the United States, the Ohio River Valley District has organized nearly a dozen witness events. The planning of these events across the district has involved much prayer and coordination with local police and leaders in each community. Some demonstrations will stop traffic for 8 minutes and 46 seconds, marking the amount of time George Floyd was held down on the pavement.

We will gather together to mourn the loss of African-American life and call for new solutions in law enforcement that reduce excessive force and help bring about an end to racism in our country. Commit to challenging unjust systems of power and access and use your voice for change at one or more of these events:

June 19:
Batavia - meet at the Clermont County Courthouse in Batavia at 6pm
Clifton/UC - meet at Wesley Foundation (2717 Clifton Ave, Cincinnati 45220) at 6pm
Loveland - meet at Epiphany UMC (6635 Loveland Miamiville Rd, Loveland) at 5:30pm
Milford - meet at Milford First UMC (541 Main St, Milford) at 6pm
Paddock Hills - meet at New Vision UMC (4400 Reading Rd, Cincinnati 45229) at 5:30pm
Price Hill - meet at Incline Mission Church (704 Elberon Ave, Cincinnati 45205) at 5:30pm
Wilmington - meet at the Veteran's Memorial on NE corner of Court House Square at 6pm

June 20:
Middletown - meet at the Middletown City Building at 10am

June 26:
Westwood - meet at Westwood UMC (3460 Epworth Ave, Cincinnati 45211) at 5:30pm

June 28:
Lebanon: meet at the  SE corner of Broadway & Main St. (by Lot 1 Coffee Shop) at 12:30pm
