In response to the invitation from our Bishops to observe Global Migration Sunday on December 3, The Ohio River Valley District will be hosting a Las Posadas Service as a way of considering both the experience of the holy family and that of immigrants today.
Join us at Middletown First United Methodist Church from 6-8pm as will experience several stations where we, like the holy family, will be turned away and not welcome. We will also have opportunity to hear testimony from those who are on the front lines of ministry with refugees and immigrants. We will conclude with a time of worship, giving thanks for a God who comes and dwells with us, and always welcomes us.
Bishop Bruce Ough writes, "This is the first Sunday of the season of Advent, a time when we remember the coming birth of the Christ Child who was himself a migrant. From Asia through Europe and Africa to the Americas, the plight of the over 65 million men, women and children forced to leave their homes and migrate to places unknown calls all Christians to remember what God requires of us."
We hope that you will join us and invite your friends, family, youth groups, and neighbors to be a part of this significant and meaningful time together of remembering those who long to have a place to call home.
