Congratulation to Tracy Chambers who was elected by our laity as our West Ohio Conference Director of Lay Speaking Ministries on Sunday, June 4, at Annual Conference during the Laity Session. Tracy is a member of Gaines United Methodist Church where she has served as Lay Leader, Liturgist, Disciple Bible Study and small group studies facilitator.
Always keen on education, Tracy attended Wittenberg University and the University of Cincinnati College of Law. She is currently employed by Macy’s Corporate Services, working in Enterprise Information Management where her responsibilities include ensuring records policy compliance and managing company-wide records retention, accession and secure disposition. Tracy starts out well-acquainted with West Ohio Conference Lay Servant Ministries as she is a Certified Lay Servant and a student of the Certified Lay Ministry Academy, actively working to complete the requirements to become a Certified Lay Minister. Tracy also serves the West Ohio Conference as a member of the Connectional Ministries Leadership Development Lead team and the Wesley Foundation Board of Trustees for the University of Cincinnati campus ministry.
Tracy is excited to embrace her new position in conference leadership. Over the next 6-8 weeks, she will be meeting with each of the District Committees on Lay Servant Ministries. This will be a time of introduction, learning about how each district committee is structured, listening to how each district provides support and direction for local lay church leadership while equipping and training laity of all ages to serve more effectively as leaders in both the church and community. After these visits, Tracy will schedule a time to gather and invite the Conference Committee on Lay Servant Ministries to create a bold strategic plan with specific action steps and timelines that will better align our conference wide Lay Servant Ministries Program and tell the stories of laity in leadership.
