Celebrating Pentecost on May 15th reminds us of the early work of the disciples in building the church and calls to mind the command that Jesus gave us in the Great Commission, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you" Mathew 28:19-20.
Discipleship has taken many forms through the years, and changes in response to culture and environments of the times. In that spirit, the District Strategy committee and the Mission Foundation of the Ohio River Valley District have determined to study the grant process and priorities and our ever changing culture and times. The District Strategy Committee will be working over the next several months to retool our grant process, if necessary, and will be submitting a report to the Mission Foundation for their consideration.
We are uncertain as to how long this process will take. However, until a report is received, reviewed, and approved no further grants will be awarded. The Mission Foundation will fund critical ministries as identified by the District Strategy Committee. Our goal is to resume the grant process in 2018. We will continue to update you on the work of the committee.
